Merino is .... Durable & Non-Itchy:Unlike traditional wool, Merino is lightweight and a low irritant - meaning it won't 'itch' your dog. Merino wool is also resilient with the longer length of the individual fibre's adds a measure of durability to the product. It's natural elasticity makes it strong and helps the coat hold its shape well.
Merino is ... Breathable & Won't Hold 'Doggy Smell':Merino wool has natural odour suppressing qualities resisting the build up of odour so it will not hold a 'doggy' smell.
Merino is ... Warm in Damp Conditions:
Although not water resistant, the Merino wool dog coat works great in damp weather. Merino wool is a hydroscopic fibre which means it is capable of absorbing moisture vapour from the environment while at the same time repelling liquids. This is unique to Merino wool - it means it can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture before it starts to feel damp.
Merino is ... Machine Washable:It is machine washable - on a warm/cool, gentle cycle with a wool wash detergent. But it is important not to tumble dry or dry clean - otherwise it will shrink up small like your own wool sweater would!
That said the coat does not need washing too often - it resists the build up of odour and its natural water repellant surface allows time for spills to be wiped away before they can cause permanent staining.
