Size Matters!
In order for the boots to stay on, it is essential to measure your dog's paws and to choose the correct size.
The boots should secure around the 'ankle' (i.e., above the dew claw but below the carpal pad) and should fit fairly snugly yet comfortably on your pup's paw.
The majority of dogs fit the same size on the front and back paws. To order a Set of 2 boots in the same size, click here. The back paws will never be more than just 1 size smaller - most dog's will fit the same size on all 4 paws.
Measuring your dog's paw width
- Have your pup stand on a flat surface and put a piece of paper under one of her front paws
- Lift her other front paw so her weight is placed soley on the paw being measured
- Mark the paper at her paw's widest points.
- Measure the distance between these marks and compare this to the chart below
To help with sizing you can watch Ruff Wear's video on sizing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGUGSj5iD-M

We strongly recommend you try the boots on your dog indoors.
There is no problem to exchange to another size as long as we get the boots back unused (just like if you were trying on shoes for yourself!) and free of dog hair.
* Have a tiny dog and need a smaller boot? Check out the Skyliner Boots - they are available in an XXXS.
Here are some more tips for fitting Ruffwear Boots
- Don’t assume large dogs have large paws – measuring is critical to ensure a proper fit!
- Unlike human footwear, sizes are based on the width of the paw, not the length.
- Bark’n Boots are designed to fit a dogs anatomy – they’re not designed to be worn at a right angle like human footwear.
- The boots do not need to be pulled up past the carpal pad.
“I recently purchsed a pair of Grip Tex boots for my dog as she cut the pad on her front paw quite badly & needed some protection when we were able to go out on walks again.
These boots are brilliant, exactly what I was looking for. They appear to be comfortable on her, sturdy & do not slip off easily. Just wanted to say that they are great – am so pleased with my purchase!
